Case Studies

Community-Engaged Public Art

  • From 2019-2022, Yue Moon brought together the intergenerational community of Toronto’s Chinatown for Lunar New Year celebrations in Toronto’s Chinatown to co-create lantern installations that showcased the community's cultural heritage. Alongside Paddy Leung, my work included designing materials, creating technical files for fabrication, and supporting the execution of both in-person and virtual workshops.

  • As part of the City of Brampton’s My Neighbourhood Art Project, Mapping Memories was a temporary public art installation that engaged the local community in capturing their favourite neighbourhood memories. Through a series of workshops with youth from Gordon Graydon Sr. Public School and other community members, participants created collages and artwork reflecting local landmarks and personal stories. The final mural, a double-sided vinyl window installation, visually connected the community and contributed to city-wide beautification efforts.

In-School

  • All You Can Zine is an adaptive workshop that can fit your specific classroom or programming goals. Originally designed for youth (9-21 years), this program can also introduce participants beyond 21 to the world of zines—self-published works used to express ideas and pursue social change. The workshop covers the history of zines, their role in storytelling and advocacy, and offers hands-on guidance in creating an 8-page zine. Participants learn how to format, design, and distribute their zines, gaining skills in both artistic expression and self-publishing.

This program has been provided to Bowling Green State University, North Park Secondary School, Brampton Library, and Living Hyphen.

  • My Paper Cut Foods workshop brings together food and art, a natural pairing in my opinion! This hands-on craft workshop invites participants to re-create their favorite dishes using paper. This adaptive workshop is perfect for various audiences and can be tailored to different themes such as Lunar New Year foods, making it a fun and educational experience for all ages. Participants can expect to share food memories, discover new dishes, and leave with fun food facts to share.

Artist Talks & More

  • Leaning on years experience, I offer a workshop designed to help artists navigate the world of artist markets. This workshop covers essential topics such as writing an effective artist statement and bio, talking confidently about your work, and what to focus on when applying to artist markets. Whether you’re a first-time applicant or a seasoned artist looking to refine your approach, this session will equip you with the skills and confidence to succeed.

  • In my Introduction to Illustration workshop, I guide participants through the creative process from an illustrator’s perspective. We explore key topics like idea generation, research, critique and feedback, and important resources for emerging creatives. This workshop is ideal for anyone looking to develop their ideation skills and consider illustration as a potential career or creative practice. Originally developed for Arts Etobicoke and their EDGE workshop series.
